"Autumn Brings"

Lipstick red, forest green, construction cone orange, and school bus yellow leaves fall steadily upon the ground. While the moist breeze rustles the hairs on the back of my neck. Warm crackling of the wood burning in the fire stove filled the room with warmth; as I enjoyed my caramel apple. This is the time to get a break from the boys you have been chasing all summer and invite over your best friends. Settle down in your fuzzy socks with a warm blanket, and watch a scary movie. Sweet cinnamon and pumpkin guts fill my nostrils with a mixture of satisfaction and disbelief. With this season comes two holidays. Halloween is a great way for young adults to dress up with other people and look completely ridiculous. An excuse to eat an excessive amount of delicious candy, scares the bejesus out of your friends, and get away with it. Haunted Houses, telling ghost stories, roaming through the grave yards, and costume parties are just a couple of the things I like to do on October thirty first. Another favorite holiday of mine is Thanksgiving, for someone who loves to eat this may be your favorite day of the year. Plumped turkey, mashed potatoes overloaded with gravy, stuffing, apple cider and cranberry sauce excite my taste buds. It is important to know the meaning of this day and what we should all be thankful for. I am thankful for all wonderful people that I have met in my life; the older friends I had in High School thank you for letting me learn from your mistakes. I am thankful for my grandparents if it were not for them affording college would not have been possible. Also, I am thankful for my best friend Susan Niemann who has helped and seen me go through quiet a bit, and has always been supportive of my dreams even if they seemed a bit unrealistic. A tradition since my senior year of High School every autumn is to take a road trip up to Apple Hill with my best friends. Every time we attend this festival we never fail to come back to Reno without cases of Fuji apples and cartons of apple cider. Most importantly, autumn has quite a bit to offer and that is why it is my favorite season.
