Autumn walking

Autumn walking

(Inkerman Road)

             ***

In shadows of cold buildings grass shines white, while

Neighbouring patches warm in Morning’s sun.

Kicking leaves turned orange and apple reds.

Everywhere above... sky blue, vast and clear.

Rolling down hills cold riders take bold risk.

Motorists glide past these city bound souls,

Attentive, wary, cynical and warm.

Norfolk pines loom high like the homes of avatars.

Reaching not as high, points of other pines

Offer safer shelter below for the little ones,

As safe as any thought in home after home

Divided only by the more wishful
