Autumn you flirt
I once knew a boy called Autumn
He had three muses for sisters:
Winter, Spring, and summer.
He never kept a shirt with a button
and blew leaves like dresses
and skirts off trees that stood there.
He teased the skies with clouds and sun
until they succumbed to Winter with winds.
He faded Spring’s passion from color
and hid Summer’s golden apples
in attics like jewels in a woman’s hair.
He banged window shutters for fun
until slammed shut by their owners.
Morning rain was his favorite sweater
He dressed days in short times
nights in longer ones. Is that fair?
His smile was like a divided chin
that waves goodbye to summers
and welcomes winter like a royal heir.
His eyes were Spring’s sweet dewy kiss
on the red cheeks of a yellow pear.
He enjoyed hearing birds’ cries din
goodbye to Summer’s bounties.
He whirled leaves with winds where
memories can be made in bliss.
Weather change was his moody snare!
I once knew a boy called Autumn
who toyed with hearts like seasons
just for the thrill of winning a dare.
With him around I surely will miss
summers' short dresses that I like to wear!
