Avoiding Art
I pushed,
I shoved,
I closed my eyes,
To the feelings of creativity I felt inside.
I tried to fill my life with things of bliss,
But all I felt was something amiss.
I cried,
I clawed,
Away from art,
But all I felt within my heart,
Was a little plant of imagination on the rise,
So quickly started what I assumed to be my surmise.
I avoided it still and pursued 'greater' things,
Those careers accepted by those that held the strings.
It's sad to think in this day and age,
"Artists can't make it," says the old adage.
Confounded,
Confused,
Frustrated,
At wit's end,
I left the path held by another's wish,
Instead I tentatively followed the one,
That other's looked down on,
Laughed at,
And spit,
The career of a humble, but happy,
Artist.
