Awaiting Life

I received great fortune the month of May

As my high school career came to a close

I had just celebrated my birthday

My life was full of gumdrops and rainbows

And as the days grew short and the nights long

I considered my future vocation

I feared that a choice I'd make would be wrong

Anxiousness controlled all my sensations

I thought of the life that awaited me

And all the dreams that I aim to fulfill

A great world full of possibilities

My life would not reside at a standstill

So, come on world! Show me all that you've got

When it comes down to it, I got one shot.
