Awake

Location

It’s like I stepped out into the sunlight for the first time,
I opened my eyes and I saw the things that have always been.

Maybe by choice I let them slide,
Maybe I was told to never notice them,
Whatever the reason I will now never forget them.

We’re given eyes to see but we seldom seek the unseen,
A mind to think but we accept only what we’re taught,
Mouths to speak but we only repeat what we’re told.

The world has never been smaller to me,
This is my awakening, final and complete.
