Awaken

I am terrified

My heart's exposed

No where to hide

No door to close

I already let you inside.

An old sensation is anew

A raging fire is burning through,

All the walls I built up to protect me from people like you

You easily strip me bare.

I resent you for making me feel

In fear because my emotions are real.

I want to get out with my heart still intact,

You have taken away my ability to do that,

I know my heart would need time to heal.

I fear what I cannot master,

I am powerless, anxious, a walking neurotic disaster

Yet I would not have it any other way.

For the first time in years my heart feels alive,

Throbbing, racing it still can grow and thrive.

In this moment you taught me, even through pain it's ability to love can survive.

So regardless of the outcome, I thank you.
