Awakened
I thought it was love that made me keep going
Those days I'd cry myself to sleep
Whispering to myself its ok
Its was ok that you forced me to say I love you
And yet you never said it back
It was ok when other girls would come flirt with you
Because it was my bed you warmed at night
It was ok to plan a future
Because of love,
It would Always be ok
That time I wanted to say no and you forced me to say yes
It was ok
You backed me into a corner,
I love you
You searched my messages,
He's just worried
Its ok that you left
Because I dont think I would have let you go
Ensnared in the lure you created,
But I put together
Now he asks if its ok when he touches me
I tell him its ok when he apologises a million times
I tell him I'm ok when he asks how I'm feeling
But even better he knows its a lie
He says its ok to have those memories
That he'll make some better ones
He says its ok to cry but keep my chin up
He kisses my scars and says he understands my pain
The pain I felt when I was finally free and going nuts
He says its ok when I flinch and hugs me close
I know now its ok to be upset,
and not be the first one to apologise
I know now that those honeyed words tasted delicious because of the poison
The poison that corrupted my mind and told me it was ok
Ok to accept the abuse
All because of love
Love taught me that I'm beautiful
Love taught me I'm smart
Love told me I have a voice
Love told me to be free
Love tells me that its not selfish to say no to sex
Love tells me I'm not obligatsd to give anything
Love tells me to be careful
But most of all its ok because I love me
