Awakening

When I was young

Sat upon my mother's knee

She spoke of a world

I would long to see

It was bright and colorful

Unlike the barren land of my birth

Full of lush flora and

The kindest people filled with mirth

But I learned that this world was not real

A figment of imagination from her mind

I could never go there, it was impossible

When I dream, however, the lines are undefined

Then I forgot

Major parts of my memory slipped away

I awoke on a grassy field

A hand out, bright as day

He was blue and bright and beautiful

She was yellow, lively, and cheerful, I surmised

He was grey, a skeptic, through and through

I was purple. A strategist only meant to advise

There was a mark on my hand

I knew not of it's meaning

He told me to not worry

Little did we know, it was the mark of a demon

He had one as well

If I recall

A birthmark, he said

Signifying the blessing of Her above all

We met him earlier on

I suspected he was not honest

But he protected his sister and we owe him a debt

We would know soon, he promised

She loved her people above herself

Her sacrifice was too great for us to bare

Do not speak her name, he said

But all glazed over eyes do is stare

We spent two years of peace before we were back

A call of help from an old friend

We were reluctant to leave her alone

Yet across the sea, we went

We traveled together

Across towns, snow, and plains

We were unstoppable

Or, so he claimed

Until it came time for my goodbye

A familiar girl brought the news

Along with others from another place, another time

We shared differing views

Up we went, to the final trial

I can remember lavender flying with scarlet and mist

I can remember red and green riding across my vision

Teal and pink whizzed by to assist

I remember yellow and grey

I remember purple and blue

And so much more I cannot name

But all of them true

It was the only secret I kept from him

My life is yours, it always has been

It was over, at last. I don't have any regrets

I will give what I can so that we can win

May we meet again, in a better life

I don't know how long I was gone

But I had time to think

And many things to ponder on

That world I was drawn to

So many years ago

It was real and I found it in him and with him

There is so much to him I owe

I awoke on a grassy field

A hand out, bright as day

There he was, a beautiful blue

A permanent fixture in my life forever, I pray

It's over now

I have never been so glad to hear those words

I don't have the mark anymore

The wind is such a blessing to be heard

When I was young sat upon my mother's knee

She spoke of a world I would never get to see

But she was wrong and I was wrong

I get to spend forever with him by my side, together and free
