Awesome Diary
Hey little black girl why the long face
You’re awesome in so many ways
Doesn’t matter the color of your skin
The length of your hair or the color of your eyes
You’re awesome comes from within
The way you see your complexion begins with you
Stand up straight look in the mirror and embrace you
You’re awesome because your skin resembles history
History that seems inhumane, relentless, and phenomenal
The past events should exude confidence inside
You know that I’m black and I’m proud era
You’re awesome because you’re not that brainless stereotypical black girl
Who lives in the ghetto, raising an abundance of children, while displaying ignorant attitudes
Instead you’re in college trying to make a way
Hey little black girl why the fallen tears
Is the reason because you yearn for a black man to
To love, to accept, to support, to heal all the pain
Someone too see you as much as you see them
Wipe those tears, dry your eyes
He is coming, because god works in mysterious ways
Hey little black girl fear no more
Your dreams will come true
You will soon graduate and be a role model to the world
No matter the various circumstances
Black girl’s rock
Stand up straight look in the mirror and say I’m awesome in my own way
