Awesome Imperfection

When a stoop of depression is upon me

and allI can see are the wrinkles in my skin and the bags under my eyes

a friend will remind me

that those wrinkles mean wisdom

and the bags mean hard work

and I start to remember my awesome imperfection

When I am sad and can only look down

I see my hands all calloused and scarred

then that friend will tell me

that those hands are awesome

they've earned those callouses and scars

they've created awesome things.

I remember all the awesome imperfections that I have

When I am happy I can only look up

I can see how awesome everything is

even when imperfect

how perfect is

and that is truly awesome
