The Awesome Race

The pitter patter of the rain

The crushing sound of thunder
The hopes of playing out today
Are all but just a wonder

Look out the window and all you see
Is a day away from summer
"Sit and read" your mother says
But you know that's a bummer

So you watch the droplets of the rain
Run down the window pane
While you sit inside this evil box
Struggling to keep sane

Two rain drops run down the glass
One behind the other
You name one Fred and one Erika
As they start to race one another

You put your money on Erika
Because girls are really cool
But Fred goes past her really fast
Yelling that she's been schooled

The race is coming to a close
With anticipation high
The only thing you can do now
Is start praying towards the sky

As if God himself had heard you then
Your droplet starts to zoom
Erika lands before dumb Fred
Ending with a boom

Erika finally beats Fred
Making your day blossom
You sit and think to yourself
"Now that was kinda awesome."
