B******

I thought I needed time

I thought I needed space

But you kept me in place

Helped me beat my average pace

We were okay

Right where we needed to be

We were cruising on by

Headed straight to where we dreamed

Every door was wide open

Opportunity in every corner

But it wasn't enough

My eyes still wondered

I craved more

I wanted attention

It wasn't enough to be just yours

I wanted more

I was compulsive

Stupid

Lost

Confused

I was blind to think I was right

I thought I deserved better

I thought I needed more

People say there are so many fish in the sea

But when I went fishing there were none like you and me

I crawled back to you

But when I had you back

Your heart wrapped around my finger

It still wasn't enough

Emptiness slithered back into my veins

It boiled my blood

My heart quaked

Alone

Left in silence

I let you go

I threw your love away

I took your heart as a token

A reminder that this wasn't love

With you I was trapped

Captive in your arms

Suffocated by your love

Held back by commitment

But now I know

Never say you belong to someone

Especially when you know you aren't theirs
