"Babbling Brooke"
It’s just a game that he and I play
So why do I hang on every word he’ll say
If it’s just a game he and I play
Why do I feel so weird
Why do I feel this way
Games are fun now and again
Our inner child just wants to play pretend
We think and wonder with feeble minds
Brains half the size of things unimaginable
Your eyes are like windows to your bitter soul
Let me go you fiend
Let me go
Your lovely grip stays on my throat
I scream and squirm
But if you let me go I scream don’t let me go
If only you weren’t just in my head you know
You would know if you knew what I knew
But I just don’t have a clue
You know how your words jumble and your feet kind of make you fumble
I feel kind of like a bumble bee
But only when you’re sitting next to me
Defying gravity
If only you and me were a real possibility
Oh how great you would make it if I didn’t have to fake it
If you said you had feelings for me
Then you could awaken my dreams
My dreams, my dreams, my most insightful dreams
The places where I scream
My dreams, my dreams
They haunt me when I sleep
The second I awake in the morning
Is the second I remember how to breathe
You are breathless
No I’m sorry
I meant you make me forget how to breathe
And only in my dreams do I succeed
At making me and you a possibility
Never have I ever wandered so far from light
I wonder would you rather like to come with me to the light
You show off your tattoos and long for your freedom
And I just hear dragons roar that they brought you a step down deeper
So my little playmate, my little trophy spouse
I’d love to show you an angelic glow and everything light’s about
So when you linger here or there or anywhere for that matter
You’ll remember me and know that love feels better than pain
You can say that if there’s no pain then you have no game
But without love, really, there is nothing to gain
And if you can’t be mine my love that’s okay
At least your mere company can bring happiness my way
Can bring me to say
I guess it would be alright if I didn’t have you tomorrow
Because there’s always yesterday
