Baby, I Love You, But...

You say “baby, I love you, but...”

I believe what you say

Then you tell me I should stay home

And not hang out with my friends today

I say “sure,” because you love me, right?

You love me, so I won’t go out tonight

You say “baby, I love you, but...”
I believe what you say

So that’s why when you say

You don’t want my guy friends around

I push them away

Because you love me, right?

You say “baby, I love you, but…”

I begin to doubt you

You raised your voice
And now I’m scared, but

“No one else will ever want you”

This isn’t good, not healthy at all

You misuse and you abuse me

Your excuses start losing credibility

The more you use them, the less I believe

So now “baby, I love you”

Is nothing but a lie

You’re not good for me and I know this now

So I’m not going to stay
