A Baby's Laugh
There’s something about a baby’s laugh/
The guttural, reverberating sound that bubbles from their bellies/
Rising up in a constant loop of simplicity/
Arising from goofy faces, silly noises/
OOhs, aaahs, farts/
As these babies grow in stature and composition/
Their laughs fade in time and circumstance/
Each day serving as another step into abounding seriousness/
These grown children look back on a graveyard of lost laughs/
A graveyard where they mindlessly wander around, searching for the answers to what went wrong/
While these grown individuals have achieved financial security and a successful career in society’s eyes /
Their search never ends/
Because there’s something about a baby’s laugh/
