A Baby's Rights

You may be my parent

But I still have rights

You abused your body and me before I was born

Yet they let me go home with you

You don't change

You give me a hug and a kiss now and then

Yet I am left dirty, hungry and crying most of the time

Forgotten until you are caught

Then I am given to a nice couple that loves me all the time

I am warm and loved

I am clean and fed

But you want me back

Maybe you love me in your own way

Or maybe you just want me for the benefits I bring

How many chances do you get

How many nights do I have to be left crying, hungry and unloved

Where are my rights

Who will fight for me
