Back
Why
Do i
Have to endure every time
The punishment to no end
Why
Do i
Take the fall
For the collapse of men
Why
Do i
Get persecuted
For my undone actions
Why
Do i
Leave the courthouse
With a new death sentence
Certain things about my life
Have put me down a notch
From the color of my skin
To my useless left arm
Constantly being dragged around
Like a lifeless corpse in the street
Being a two disadvantages
Not just one like the others
She took from me
The little freedom I had
She took from me
The little dignity running through me
She took from me
My image of being the good son
She took from me
Everything
And in return
Gave me the bullet holes to my reputation
The bullet holes in my spirit
The bullet holes in my family
The 17 bullet holes in my back
Helpless, lifeless on that stand
Pleading for what I thought a chance I had
Going into a dark place I never wanted to be
But instead facing it like my newfound reality
Being taken advantage of
With the scars still bleeding
Walked in hello
And after she's leaving
Got what she could before her daddy walked in
Looking at her and cursing her for her god forsaken sin
I look at him and he asks me
About what happened in the house that day
The truth poured out so vividly from my memory
And so much was left in that room
That very room
The room that I lost my life
The room that I suffered the consequences
The room that at that point I died
From others inability to see past sheer
From others inability for change
From others inability to look into their reflections in the water
And see themselves staring back at them
Instead of me
I had no other choice
I was done
People told me otherwise
But I to distraught
To listen to their cries
Their please
For my salvation
yet
I'm dead anyways
What makes the difference between electricity and bullet holes
What's the difference between liberty and justice
What's the difference between my life and theirs
What's the difference between white and black
What's the difference between sheer and chiffon
What's the difference between freedom as a law and as a concept
Why
Do i
Pay the price
Why
Do i
Climb that fence
Why
Do i
Run away from my problems
Because
I was dead from the start
