Back and Forth

rock back and forth

though the baby has died.

clench the small cold hand.

look in to lifeless eyes.

this baby's your little girl.

gone long ago.

I'm sorry you loved her.

and failed to notice.

the corpse rises from bed.

for you need to be pleased.

" they don't know I'm dead."

that this soul needs to leave.

so I'll learn how to smile.

and do what they want.

go the extra mile.

until my legs fall off.

this corpse truly tries.

to be all that you need.

but is still dead inside,

how did you not see?
