Back to the Past
Dear Mr. Future,
What do you know?
What is it that you know that I do not?
Am I to have a noble death in a petty war
or a petty death in a noble war?
Will I grow up to be the President?
Will I marry a king?
Am I to be a scientist in a world of artists
or an artist in a world of scientists?
Is my life going to be better?
Is it going to be full of adversity?
Am I to be trapped in the unknown that is
You, Mr. Future.
I don't like surprises.
I don't like mystery.
I don't like not knowing where I'm heading.
Give me a hint, Mr. Future,
and I'll give you something in return.
Give me a hint, Mr. Future,
and I will show you Mrs. Past.
Sincerely,
The Present
