Back to Shore

There's choppy waters and a rocky shore,

But I need to forget you don't love me anymore

So I'll dive right in to the midnight wave

And when I sink to the bottom I'll try to be brave

.

Being swallowed by the great big blue

Made me forget how to think of you

But when my lips pierced the surface and I took in air,

My first protruding thought was how you weren't there.

.

The loss of you could drown me

And I could breathe in that water gladly

But there's more to swimming than being swept away

There's more to our love than its final day

.

I could swim across the ocean or die along the way

And neither one would give me answers to why you didn't stay.

So I'll take a deep breath and swim back to shore

Forever drowning in the reasons you don't love me anymore.
