Back in Time
Don’t get me wrong
I don’t try to be a hypocrite
I like the era in which I live in
With the technological advances
That has helped us
Whether it’s at school, at home, at work
Such advances have helped make our lives easier
At times way too much…
The advances have helped us with life so much
It helps avoid life itself at times
Because while trying to communicate with people
From far away and that don’t really know you
One forgets about the people right in front of you
The ones who actually know and care for you
We also get help in getting more fat into our bodies
Since we don’t like to move anymore
One day we shall end up as chubbies
Just like in the movie Wall-E
When we actually bother to listen to something
Such as music
Technology itself seems to have beaten us up in that game
For we don’t even hear instruments playing beautiful melodies
Just beeps from a machine
As for the lyrics
They don’t teach anything of value anymore
Just to party all night long
Don’t get me wrong
I don’t try to be a hypocrite
I like the era in which I live in
With the technological advances
But still, at times I wish to go back in time
Back to the time when families
Would sit down together to eat
And to actually talk with each other
About their thoughts and feelings
Rather than just sit, eat, and be on the cellphones
Back to the time when people, especially kids,
Would play and create adventures outside
Rather than just sitting on the couch watching Netflix
Back to the time when music actually meant something
To have a beautiful rhythm to dance with
Or to relate to the lyrics when someone feels down
Rather than the beeps and weird sounds
Created from the machine and bad songwriters
Don’t get me wrong
I don’t try to be a hypocrite
I like the era in which I live in
With the technological advances
But if I were to change something in this world
It would be my timeline
To go back in time
Back to maybe more complicated times
Yet at the same time, better times
