Backspace

I hate the backspace button

"Undo"

"Clear"

"Restart"

It's not because it causes me to lose every bit of work that I write if I'm online.

No, that's not it.

It's not because it erases too much, not ever just enough.

No, that's not it either.

It's because we aren't allowed to fix mistakes

And I don't mean erasing or clearing or "backspacing"

I mean in actions and words in our lives.

I'm not allowed to backspace my life if I make a mistake.

I can't backspace cheating on my lover

I can't backspace never telling my grandmother I loved her

I can't backspace using my friend

I can't backspace losing my virginity

I can't backspace, at all.

I shouldn't be able to backspace. No one should.

They say that the more times you use a word, the more its meaning decreases.

Backspace should mean nothing now

Because it is nothing.

Should be nothing.

Did you make a mistake?

Redeem yourself.

Don't backspace.
