Backstroke

Would I be your token of convenience?

How not? Couldn't I laugh, laugh it off?

It's a struggle of experience and a free spirit

Soul advocates for a wild run

Heart cautions with the familiar past

All too familiar past.

Before you take a dip in the conditional waters

Backstroke into my memory pool

Inside the mind you're protected

But a cell wall won't keep you from my requited smile.
