A Backwards World

Looking past his own reflection,

He saw what others failed to.

Echoes of one truth dissolved,

An array of realities revealed.

A life misunderstood,

Defenseless against a diagnosis.

Prisoner of a backwards world,

The still presence of actuality lingered.

A silent enemy invading,

Its blatant betrayal unfolding.

Victims become witnesses,

As uncharted truths declare an inevasible future.

There is no escape from these twisted ties,

For there is no escape route once marooned

on the isolated island of Autism.
