In The Backyard

Do I qualify for your attention?

Do I deserve this pleasure?

The only word I know for sure

That fits me is seclusion.

Why do your eyes listen

But don't know what it's been?

Why do your ears see

The ideal person I can be?

Why don't I feel exposed?

Is it your mouth, tightly closed,

Promising nothing will be alive

When I trade you for a life?
