Bad and Good

Sometimes the Bad outweighs the Good;

And you feel yourself start to sink

As It drags you down into yourself,

As you shrink inside your own mind

Only to see the doubts, the fears,

Holding yourself together.

But it would be better to fall apart

Because then someone might see,

Then someone would know,

If they only knew,

Perhaps they could help,

Perhaps there would be a way out.

Somedays I choose the Good instead;

Beneath the weight of Bad I see

That there is still good around me,

The world outside of me,

Others who may be in need,

I feel myself reaching farther.

There is more Good to go around

When you take the time to see it

Pausing on the rushing path,

Restraining from your hurried gait,

More Good abides in this world

When you take the time to be it.
