Bad Lover

Bad Lover

I can’t remember a time where you weren’t there

To creep behind me, and pull me close

Only to crush my ribs and leave me gasping for air

The torment and pain, it’s completely unfair

You're my bad lover

You complete me as a mess but the distress it’s causing to me

Can’t you see?

The love we share for each other, is it even love?

I just want to love another person who can match my intensity

And still stay attached to me

But instead you love me violently

You're my bad lover

You’re the baggage I carry with me

Wishing I could just be carefree with him

But my insanity within holds me back

How much longer can I stay intact?

Because this is not love

This is a dangerous game

The fire that's burning here cannot be tamed

And there's that "bang" on the door

Where your fists fight against the protective wood

The screams and yells haunt this neighborhood

Love cannot be this intense war

It is the comfort and security he gives me

The feeling of being free

And his "because I love you"

Means everything to me

I cannot go back into the past

That consuming relationship has passed

He won't be my bad lover

I can begin anew

I can learn from you

I can recover
