Bad Poetry

If poets are subtle then I’m no poet.

This poem is a cubic box
into which I stuff and cram weighty words
and a collage of rallying cries and shock value
and stream of consciousness diarrhea
until it’s full to bursting.
And then I toss it with the others
into the mailbox
to get sent around the world
and fall into someone’s lap
and explode in their face
neon muddied tastelessness
weakening their minds
to the subtle dancing language
of the world around them.

This year I will write better,
I swear I will toss you pearls.
