Bad Poetry

This is me writing a bad poem

to remind myself that not everything has to be pretty

Lord knows i’m not pretty

that i’m messy and cramped up and way too obsessive

I get lost in things so easily

in wondering what it must have felt like for you to look at the sunset

placing myself in others minds so much that i forget that it’s impossible

and that everything i see through their eyes is actually through my eyes

and that the person driving the other way today could have killed me

but they didn’t

and they would have had a whole life

they would have had dreams

and bad poetry

and crushes that lasted helplessly forever

and hopes of getting older and doing things

and things that they loved

and things that they hated

and people that they just couldn’t stand

they could have killed me

I could have killed them

and i never would have known

what kind of party they had for their sixteenth birthday

they could have taken my life

and i wouldn’t be here writing bad poetry

wondering what the rest of the world is wondering

because sometimes my own mind gets too heavy
