Balance

Laws struck in aurum to obey

So as to entreat you with kindness another day

Their values ever important to be retained

were placed on a placard never to be forsaken

The twisted had their way its beauty and simplicity soon lost

Chaos was the tragedies sorrowful toll and cost

A scale erected to ward the awful onslaught

To thwart what terrors the wicked had wrought

Standing tall it decreed who was just

Seething it felled

the evil with disgust

Dainty luster did dim

Gold plates transumuted to obsidian

Steel rods withered and bent

Then the great balance

never evaluated

the same again.
