A Ball and a Dream

Most of you know not his name

He runs the court, yet still no fame

All he owns is a ball and a hoop

If you’ve seen this kid play, you'd know he’s no fluke

The game is his life and all that he loves

To get to the top he must push and shove

The game itself has been his savior

Over the years he’s put in hard labor

Never speaking a word about his talents

Keeping family and ball in an equal balance

Ball is his life and all that he’s got

Life without ball? He’d rather be shot

Keeps the score high, and his dreams even higher

But you won’t see his face on a billboard or flier

Blood, Sweat, and Tears is what’s got him here

Yet he still has no crowd, still no one to cheer

He hates losing more than he like’s winning

He’s the best on the court and he’s only beginning

He has high hopes for making an NBA team

But for now all he has is a ball and a dream
