Ballad of the Challenger

Students are excited to see

The shuttle way up high

Teacher flying far from Earth

To stratospheric skies

Counting down- three, two, one, liftoff!

It shoots up from the ground

Gathering cheers from everyone

The shuttle is now space bound

At seventy three seconds in

A thundering boom’s heard

Rocket parts fly everywhere

An explosion has occurred

Wails rise up from the vast crowd

Voicing their agony

The world is shook right to its core

A voiceless tragedy
