Ballad Of The Maiden 1

Fair Maiden
A maiden of the people
Lady of the light in the darkness
She gives her compassion
To the townsfolk she cares for dearly
They repay with gratitude to her
For kindness is rare among them

Yet this maiden of the people
Longs for more than the smile from her town
She wants something that is rare
Something that must be true and pure
A white flower among the weeds

This is a task, one she must do alone
She knows her looks are not like a princess
Or that she is not as strong minded as the professor’s wife
For she hopes that her tender heart will win
Against all these odds
It is a rigid task
For of all the people she has known
None are yet worthy of her heart
