Balsamic Moon

Under the shimmering light of a balsamic moon, we bled our hearts out in a moment of stillness where only you and I existed

I saw you the outwardly keen observer and thinker and saw the inwardly sullen and lost, the vulnerable and beautiful core of you and you saw me the outwardly free spirit and strong and saw the inwardly scarred and pensive, the vulnerable and beautiful core of me

Under the shimmering light of a balsamic moon, We fell in love-mind, body, soul complete

A feeling immeasurable, expressed by a word yet transcendental of time or circumstance, pure and absolute

We revealed our souls, never touched by another, yet a ghost of the life you live

Since that early morning in autumn, I have longed for you, have poured my eyes out in lakes silently, stood by in shadows allowing for the pieces to be placed and protecting all that is at stake

In moments, touched by that radiant moon glow, we dove into that world we know

It is there always waiting for us, yet we tread where we are always, unwilling to set this free or allow it to be

Resurfacing, inauthentic and scared, you denied its existence, disregarded mine, and stood silent time and time again, betrayed

Shadows formed, hopes began to erode, the calm and peace and joy turned to hurt, doubts, and anger reared its ugly head, patience so far from my command

I tried for so long to hold that space and be strong, to keep my head up, stay calm, to be a safe haven for you from the storms and the shame, because I love you, the human being, the light within, yet I failed

Shattered and eroded, hurt, ashamed and depleted, a small and fragile version of the self I rebuilt, I tore down those walls, let truth be known, let the light shine in on our world, disregarded you, betrayed

Remorseful and torn, I heal this wounded heart of mine once more

Your silence screams and pierces

Eyes burn for the hurt that we have all endured, yet I yearn for you as the moon starts anew

Under the shimmering light of a balsamic moon, I will always think of you, my love, my home I never had for longer than a moment, undisturbed and precious in that autumn air-that is where I rest this
