Band Of Brothers
Band of Brothers, United as One,
In Greater Latrobe, it has just begun.
I won’t forget, the call on that Saturday Night,
For what I couldn’t believe, my mind I had to fight.
It all began when I heard my phone ring,
It was late at night, I heard the ringtone sing.
I answered my phone wondering what it was about,
It was my friend train crying, I could hear him shout.
He told me our friend has just died,
Zach was hit by a car, we just cried.
I could not believe my ears for what I heard,
All I thought that this was obscured.
My friend I was just with today has been killed,
The drink I was drinking has just been spilled.
I was sitting there just so cold,
Thinking how could this happen to a 14 year old?
The next day our team met up,
No one said a word, not even what’s up?
We sat in the room and cried away,
None of us knew anything to say.
When we went to the viewing, everything was bad,
All of us were crying and were very sad.
Seeing him lay there, in that settled bed,
I remember the last words Zach ever said.
“See you at football practice Monday Breezy”
This never happened, so for me it wasn’t easy.
After the funeral, it meant the end,
Once I saw him go, my heart began to bend.
We had a Game on Friday,
That was Zach’s Day.
We walked out like a Band of Brothers,
Holding hand, bowing heads, with one another.
I love you #77 and will never forget you Zach,
You were my bro, you always had my back.
This season our friendship did begin,
And I know one day, I shall see you again.
