Bandage
Internally wounded,
he laid across my scars like a bandage.
Hold your head high
Never let anyone see you cry
No matter how broken you are.
Don't ask too many questions
Suffer in silence
Your daddy don't love you
Yes I beat you till you bled
It's okay I love you go to bed
I'll mend your scars
You are SO beautiful
but you sure have gained some weight.
you'll never be perfect
you'll never be great
you were a mistake
Your soul is not for you to have
Instead it's mine to take.
Make sure whatever you do
It's flawless no filter no edit
I won't be there along the way
But I'll be there to take the credit.
Most importantly
What's on the inside doesn't matter
as long as you make it look good
You have to suffer for all of my mistakes
You can't do anything I wished I could.
Internally wounded,
he laid across my scars like a bandage.
Tried to rip my bandage off and expose my aching flesh
But what she found was healing,
that hadn't finished yet.
Now I hold my head high
not because of who I am
but who I'll grow to be.
And I'll always speak my truth
And my father's love doesn't define me
And the blood I shed back then was the blood of weak
I am beautiful because I'm in love with girl staring back at me.
I am not perfect,
to that I plead
but I am my own validation
Only to my God, I'm committed to please.
I'm reclaiming my soul.
I'm not asking.
I'll take it.
And leave.
Internally wounded,
he laid across my scars like a bandage
and made me... love me
