The Barbaric Yawp
I too am not a bit tamed.
Wild and free I run along the wolves,
Embrace my unpredictability and
Open my animal heart to the savagery.
I have no desire to be the alpha, nor the omega.
Leave me as a beta and I will rise in my own paws.
No laws to maintain order, the way the
Earth was meant to be used.
Protect blood with passion, risk life for a purpose.
Too many live weak, too many cry at first strike.
Cry for a higher being, cry for your shackles to be released.
They feel my pain, the wolves; we endure pain together.
Rip my flesh from my body and I will not give in.
Steal my soul from my body and I will beg.
My soul is my treasure, take my treasure and I am left with
Nothing. Body may be strength, body may connect me to the wolves.
But mind makes me the light at the bottom of the box.
Mind makes me the light at the end of the tunnel, when you’ve almost reached
the end. Speak of my mind, speak of the light it shines.
But no one will believe you.
Carry with you my shadow and make it a part of everything.
Body lets me feel the water splash my face.
Relatability makes you bland.
Stick to your instincts, abide by your impulses.
Never trust those who are tamed, they are too ordinary.
