Barefoot
Feet
Sunken into grass
Illuminated a vibrant green
By the piercing rays of the sun
Blades
Grow colorful
With heads of wild flowers
Swaying gently in the springtime breeze
Moss
Acts as a soft pillow
Cushioning a fall from grace
Springing back from a soft touch
Sand
Sifts through toes
Burning hot
With jagged shells and grainy gravel
Waves
Lap lazily against the shore
Throwing an explosion of droplets
Through the air
Leaves twirl to the ground
A quilt blanketing the earth
Crunching under every step
Ice
Freezes on top of the fresh fallen snow
A layer of cold
Numbing through soles
Mud splatters shoes
As feet splash through puddles
Brown on bronze
Concrete
Rough and tough
Running through the streets
Leading nowhere
But everywhere
Going barefoot.
