The Barn
When I lose myself with you-in fear,
I have to find "me" elsewhere.
A barn full of horses is heaven for me,
I find my God, and can be free.
Not a pain in the world, not a single tear cried,
Here, I feel the most alive.
In touch with nature, and truth be told:
It never mattered how long we stood in the cold.
They were warm, so I was too,
And here, I couldn't be hurt by you.
My protections were two-ton dangers,
They never saw me as just any stranger.
They never cared about my tragic past,
I wished these moments would always last.
Jesus may lead some with steps in sand,
But he leads me, with a halter-rope, in hand.
