The Barren Tree

There's a story told here Of a barren tree That for all its years of death It has yet to know an end to life Its rumored to have been born Of a seed from the tree of knowledge Caught on the clothes of Adam or Eve When they were thrown out of Eden Thus when God saw it growing, Instead of destroying it, He made it barren And gave it immortality To stand forever as a monument To sin The tree is mere bark and branches Yet one perceives its resilient strength A tree that stands the test of time Born of sin into sin Yet with purity in its essence Perhaps it is to be marveled Perhaps condemned Do as you wish The tree still stands No matter the threat I have hope in its impossible bloom To one day see blossoms Flowering from those dead branches I must keep hope If not, What hope lies for me?
