When can we go back to the basics?

Back when a problem arose we didn`t always have to face it

Back when running away was easy

Back when it wasn`t so difficult to be me

What were the basics?

Being able to wave without being considered weird

Being able to wear dark clothing without being feared

Being able to stay pure and innocent wihout being pressured by your peers

Nowadays innocence is hard to come by

And the true "basics " are even more rare

for nowadays the word basic is used an offensive slur

Directed at either him or her

Just another word for teenagers to exchange

Which contributes to arrogance and true vision becoming a blur

And an aching heart and deep scars

Felt deep by either him or her

So I ask again when will we go back to the basics?

I long for the simplicity we had long ago

When will we go back to the basics?

The simple people long to know.
