Basketball

The clock was counting down, the pressure intense

I shot at the wrong basket; two critical points were allotted to the opposing team. I ran out of the gym with tears streaking my jersey.

Basketball is supposed to be a fairly straightforward game. The ball goes into the hoop, the team with more points wins.

On this day I saw first hand how seemingly simple things could turn out to be relatively complicated

It would take me the majority of my early adolescence to truly recognize the world can be a complicated place.
