On the Bathroom Floor
On the Bathroom Floor
(Slam)
Cynthia Flores
She’s there, on the Bathroom floor.
Not surprised, but shocked.
Shocked to see her lying on the tile instead of hunched over crying.
Blood.
Yes, blood. Blood instead of the usual tears
It surrounds her, reminding her, that this was the best way to end everything, the best decision She has taken, the last one she will EVER take. The last decision she made.
Why?
Because she was pressured by society.
Her beauty, her body, her emotions.
Nothing about her was ever good enough, for society.
Society. Yes, Society did this to her,
NO! We are society.
We are hypocrites when it comes to judgement.
We know judging is wrong, yet we still do it.
Even when
We tell others that it’s not right, and can hurt others.
YES, it hurts.
But when we as “society” play the blame game of who shot the bullet of words, never claiming it once, we are a world full of hypocrites.
Society is Hypocriticism.
WE are society.
Who wins the blame game at the end?
No one.
We all are to blame for a world full of judgement and hate.
Until we realize that society is nothing but a word full of excuses and insults, until we can realize that society isn’t made up of aliens of sorts, that we humans, us, you and I, that we all make up society,
There will be no winner.
If we took the time to understand,
If “society” did, they might think twice before shooting.
If “society” did, there wouldn’t be a girl lying cold,
on the bathroom floor.
