Battle On

Choose your battles they say

Where, where is this faded line?

Hallways wreak of day old smoke

Lit cigarettes passed around the bathroom

Students permitted to leave class

Return smoke polluted

Teacher notices

Notifies admininistration for nothing in return

No response

No reprocussions

Why, why wouldn't you fight this?

Is this the line?

Teachers, here is your calling:

Fight for the unknown, undiscovered, abnormal potential

You see beyond their culture, and what is normal

What shouldn't be brought up

Without you, it may forever be lost

So, teachers, Battle On.

The calling for teachers is so important because without it teachers feel helpless. I have seen this so often in schools, that teachers look so much to the administration for assistance and help, but what they need to know is that they have the power to form a classroom that calls out all potential in students. I hate that school has just accepted that students can smoke, listen to music, and do whatever they want to do as long as enough people are going along with it. What does that say about our education system? More teachers need to be at the mentality that they have the ability to impact one student enough to change the way they think and act for the better.
