a battle between the eyes

i try so hard to be someone they want around,

but I always feel misplaced, never truly found.

i don’t belong where the crowds all stay,

i walk my path in a different way.

they trade their smiles, their easy lies

while I carry storms behind my eyes

maybe it’s me, I’m built all wrong,

off key notes in a perfect song.

i trip, I fall, I never lead,

maybe I’m cursed waiting to be freed

a puzzle piece that will never fit

call me free or call me weird

i am what i am- a different breed

i tell myself to just be still,

but silence bends against my will.

a quiet room becomes a fight,

a thousand voices crowd the night.
