Battle Cry
Because I love you, I hid the pain
You ignored my feelings and only cared about yourself.
Who knew someone could be so vain?
I smiled when I wanted to cry,
I laughed when I wanted to scream
I held on for so long, unable to say goodbye.
I laid in bed and thought to myself, is this really what love means?
Because I love you, I kept going back
Are you talking to me or am I under attack?
Every time you left, I felt as if my world was falling apart
I convinced myself that you loved me,
because you never stayed gone for too long.
We would break up and get back together again,
Things would be so perfect every time we would push restart
Utopia never works, we were doomed to fail.
Destruction on both sides, each creating chaos,
Because I love you, I made excuses for your behavior.
How could you be my destruction and my savior?
You wrapped your hands around my neck and threw me on the floor,
Then you helped me up and kissed me.
Our love was sick and twisted.
Everything you did, I felt it in my core
I begged you to treat me right, an impossible plea.
Me before you became my battle cry,
Standing alone in happiness I had to say Goodbye.
