The battle inside
I know there is no way for me to win.
If I were to pretend like I don’t care
Would that make the anger I feel be fair?
And every day I have to hold it in,
Because I’m made of a different skin. 5
There is this hole inside me that is bare,
And most of the time I don’t know it’s there.
You would never know how my life has been.
But somehow I know one day I’ll prevail.
Because now I have to fight back and soar. 10
To be able to fly beyond the veil,
Recognize first that I have to implore.
I cannot know what this journey entails,
All I know now is what I must strive for.
