Battle of the Mind

That girl is a soldier
She battles in her mind
Fighting all the things
Trying to kill her all the time

She wears a suit of armor
And keeps a gun at her side
And in this protected state
She can forget the times she cried

But then the monsters come
And everything gets loud
Her shaking hands shoot the gun
And her head begins to pound

Her friends don’t see the battle
They only see her hands
Shaking and betraying her
In a panic she stands

The monsters have her surrounded
She’s lost in her own head
In real life her friends shake her
But in her mind she’d dead

But soon enough the skies clear
And the monsters fade away
She returns to her real life
She’s lived another day
