Battlefields

So many wars,
settling scores,
fighting for riches,
but leaving us poor

They say “believe us,”
they only deceive us,
if you look closely,
their lies are egregious

The children are fighting,
the bombs are igniting,
if we want peace,
we must do it in writing

“This is the way,”
that’s what they say,
but we won’t stand for it,
no, not today.
